With over thirty years of professional experience in the discipline of diabetic foot disease, St Johns Foot Clinic Director, Virginia Bower has worked as a podiatrist in Tasmania, Queensland, Western Australia and Singapore.
Before founding St Johns Foot Clinic, Virginia established the first podiatry department at the Singapore General Hospital and was the Chief Podiatrist at Royal Perth Hospital before changing career to become an academic. Virginia’s most recent academic position was Associate Professor of Podiatric Medicine at the University of Western Australia where she coordinated the undergraduate podiatric medicine research units and the Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine Honours course.
Virginia enjoys all aspects of podiatry but has extensive experience in chronic disease, particularly the management of diabetes and peripheral arterial disease. Virginia is also a certified Barefoot Rehabilitation Specialist with the Evidence Based Fitness Academy in New York and believes that foot pain must be addressed from both a biomechanical and neuromuscular perspective.

Brian comes to St Johns Foot Clinic with a wealth of life and clinical experience. Before training as a podiatrist, Brian served with the New Zealand Defence Forces as an infantry officer. In 1996 Brian completed his podiatry qualifications and spent a number of years working in the public and private health services in New Zealand.
In 2006 Brian relocated to Australia and worked in rural and remote Queensland for the Royal Flying Doctors Service. In this role he provided clinical services to remote communities in the Far North of the state. In 2010 he joined the Central Australian Congress where he again enjoyed working as a clinician in remote central Australia. In 2015 Brian joined the South West Hospital in Roma Queensland as their Senior Podiatrist. In early 2020 Brian moved to Launceston Tasmania with his partner and has settled here with a plan to buy a property and continue to balance work with his other passion, bush walking.
Brian has a special interest in chronic disease management in particular diabetes and vascular disease of the legs and feet. In 2019 Brian became a credentialed Wound Clinician: High risk foot with Wound Innovations Australia.
